Ben is a General Partner of Ballast Equity Partners. Ben leads our VC SMA strategy where he focuses on primary venture fund commitments and co-investments
Ben started his career in 2016 at Top Tier Capital Partners, a venture-only fund of funds platform. Ben joined Top Tier when they had ~20 employees and a single office in San Francisco. Over the past decade, he helped scale that business to ~50 employees across three offices as a senior member of the investment team. Ben was actively involved in the sourcing, diligence and execution of new venture investments across primaries, secondaries, and directs. He had additional responsibilities including relationship management across LPs & GPs, portfolio construction and cash management for separately managed accounts, and he advised a large state pension on their direct venture commitments.
While at the University of Pennsylvania, Ben was an active member of the Varsity Football Team, where they won the 2015 Ivy League Championship. He currently lives outside New York City.
Outside of work, Ben is usually found chasing his two young children around. He and his wife share Ben's longtime passion for archery. Ben would also like you to know that he still thinks he can beat his wife in a race, the rest of us are not so sure.
